I put the order in to have my house appraised to see if it was worth our time to try and sell the place or just rent it. We had 3 weeks to make a decision. I was verbally quoted 7-10 days for the quote. 9 days later, I hear back from Mort and he said that he was going to go on X day (something like 4-5 days later). I contacted him that day and asked if everything was OK, just wanted him to check in. Never heard from him. A day or so later, he tells me he was unable to go and will send someone a few days later. Now, our cutoff point to determine to list the house for sale (based on appraisal) was cut down to around 3 days because of this delay. I explained to him that we need the appraisal ASAP and he said he might be able to do it in that time. He said that most appraisals are done in 16-18 days or so (which we were past.) I've had appraisals done in the past and they were completed in, you guessed it, 7-10 days. I tell him we've given him plenty of lead time to get it done so hurry up so we can decide if we need to list or rent. He didn't like that response, and said he would have to have the money up front before I would receive the report. I told him that he would get the money if I get the report on time. We went back and forth on that and we went our separate ways. I got an appraiser to come out the next day (with help from my real estate agent) and he had the report the following day. That's service above and beyond. Being extremely busy is no excuse to not have contact with your customers when times are exceeding expectations. Very unprofessional. Would not recommend to anyone. Find someone else.
